Welcome to Spring-Ford Rotary!
Rotary International is the world's first service club organization, with more than 1.2 million members in 33,000 clubs worldwide. Rotary club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace, and eradicate polio under the motto Service Above Self.

We are very proud of the positive impact that the Spring-Ford Rotary Club is making toward a better community here and a around the world.

While we are constantly working on projects to help our community, our larger signature events include the Annual Pancake Breakfast Buffet and our annual Adopt-A-Family program, both of which help numerous local organizations and families.

Our annual Limerick Uncorked Festival is quickly becoming a must-attend event, with thousands of participants local wineries and brewers, great music and artisan craft vendors. This event enables us to provide funding for even more needed projects and local organizations.

While our focus is on helping our community, we are also a fun, energetic group of area business professionals. Our weekly meetings provide an opportunity for us to listen to interesting speakers from many local organizations, and to build strong, long-lasting friendships. Our evening events are extremely fun - rotating around to different venues in the area.

We welcome all who would like to come have some fun and make some great friends while you help us in our efforts to continue making our community a better place to live and work

Spring-Ford Rotary News
Congratulations are in order.....2022 Citizen of the Year......is awarded to the first woman elected Mayor of Royersford, Mayor Jenna!   What an astounding woman....Jenna juggles so many responsibilities with great success and makes it look effortless.   The Spring-Ford Area Rotary presented Mayor Jenna with her plaque at our 8/17 lunch meet at Luciano's.....If you don't know Mayor Jenna, as I did not, check out her list of many accomplishments and her ever fresh Facebook page....
I got to sit and chat with Jim Oehlert, and his lovely bride, Beverly at their beautiful home in Limerick.  We sat outside, under the gazebo overlooking a "Jim" built Koi pond with about 100 fish of various shapes and sizes in it...This couple is the stuff dreams are made of.....They complete each other's sentences and smile at each other....They are truly in love after 59 years!  But, let's start at the beginning...James Oehlert "Jim" was born and raised in Limerick Township with one brother and one sister....Mom and Dad were of German decent...His Dad started Oehlert Brothers Oil Company and their first delivery was 12/24/48!
Let me introduce my new friend, Vince Raffeo….
Vincenzo Raffeo was born to immigrants from Sicily, Italy…they came to America through Philadelphia and settled in Norristown on 759 Sandy Street….Vince was the youngest of eleven kids, six boys and five girls!  In those days, there was a midwife who delivered the babies….and that midwife would get the birth paperwork to the Catholic Church….thereby, setting the baby’s birth date.  It might not have been the true birth date, but, possibly months after!   Now, Vince happens to be the only remaining family member left!   His Mother, Lena, was a guiding force in young Vince’s life….he thought she was the most beautiful woman in the world, with red hair and green eyes.  His love for his Mother grew into the loving traits he instills to this day in helping women in business and the community…But, tragically, at the age of 53, Lena passed away from leukemia when Vince was 10 years old.
I met with Gene Krasley at his home in Limerick Township....I could not help but notice the collection of Hess Trucks!   Gene is an avid collector, although he assured me that he is "downsizing" his collection and that now he only has his favorites....Gene was born and raised in beautiful, downtown Royersford!   He had one sister, Mary and three brothers, Art, Bud and Jack, all of which are deceased,...leaving a very empty space in Gene's life.  I came to find out, during our conversation that Gene holds his family in the highest regard.

Ed Nugent agreed to sit down with me this past week, and I could not have enjoyed our meeting more....Let me tell you about Ed.......Ed was born and raised in Elizabeth, NJ in 1929 in an Irish and German household, as a middle child with two sisters.   In first grade, he met his future wife, a young Irish girl named Ann Celeste....they grew up in the same community and went to the same church.  As a young man, Ed enlisted in the military with four of his hometown buddies.  He served in the 25th Division, the 27th infantry regiment.  His company was relieving troops coming out of the Philippines during the Japanese occupation in WWII.  Ed came out of the service and attended Seton Hall College on the GI bill.  At one point, Ed and his friends threw a party in a local hall to celebrate coming back from the War, and guess who was in a corner....Ann Celeste...Ed and Ann got together and married at 22!
